What a fun time we had at ISES (International
Special Events Society) last week. Our
monthly meeting was at House of Blues and it was
a really cool venue. We meet lots of
wonderful people in the event business through a
fun networking game as well as socializing with
old friends too. Many Thanks to House of
Blues for hosting us and providing the wonderful
food.
I always look forward to the
ISES meetings because the people attending are
all fun loving people who know how to have a
party. It's their passion which is why we
are all in the events industry. So if you
are ever needing a recommendation for venues,
caterers, party planners, party ideas,
entertainers, photographers, valets, bartenders,
waiters or anything to do with events, give me a
call. I know a lot of people that I can
recommend! |

Hot outside but that's OK.
We'll just
have a party inside,
where it's nice and
cool. |
It's too hot to have an outdoor party but you
can host a casual get-together inside and still
have fun without too much work. Pick
a theme and have everyone bring something with
that theme in mind.
IDEAS:
A Luau: with fancy umbrella drinks, roast
pork (in the oven), pineapple desserts, leis and
grass skirts!
Pick a country: Italy, France, Spain,
Japan....and have everyone bring a dish from
that country.
Have a Birthday party for a famous person (who
won't be attending): to see lists of
birthdays for any day of
the year, go to:

Be sure to have your
guests sign up for a category of food to bring
if it's a pot luck. You don't want
everyone to bring the same thing:
appetizers, salads, main dish, side dishes,
desserts, drinks.
Don't want to work
all evening while your guests are enjoying

What a wonderful site...Rain. Now that the
rain cleared the air, and lowered the
temperature a little (for one day), we can relax
a minute and take a breath.
June is almost over and 4th of July is
coming fast.. Do you have your party
already planned? Family, Friends, lots to

Pick a theme, For Memorial Day, Patriotic to
honor our military?
Beach theme with flip flops by the pool?
Whimsical summer with bright colors and
flowers?
Fiesta theme with Margarita and a
sombrero?
Whatever you do, you
should never feel intimidated when planning a
summer get-together. These informal parties are
all about enjoying good company, a few drinks,
some delicious food and most importantly, some
rest and relaxation. Remove the hassle from the
equation of planning a summer party with our
tips.
Pick a Date

Saturday is ideal since it allows your guests
to stay late if they want without having to
worry about getting out of bed the next morning
for work.
Plan a date that’s convenient for you and
you don’t have too many other things going on
before the party.
Determine Your Guest List
- Who’s coming?
Friends, family or both?
Will
your party be large and all-inclusive or small
and intimate? Invite guests that will have fun
at the kind of event you want to host.
Keep in
mind, the summer season is long so you don’t
have to invite everyone over at once. A good way
to reconnect and spend time with people is to
keep gatherings smaller.

Don't forget to invite your guests. It doesn’t
have to be a formal paper invitation, however
there are some fun themed invitations that can
really set the mood for the event.
Even online invitations can be fun and
set the mood for your party by adding clip art
and color to the email or use one of the many

Plan Your Menu
Steak, fish or hotdogs?
Keep the
menu for your summer party simple. Try to keep
your food options down to a few choices per
course. For a casual outdoor get together,
consider skipping the appetizers altogether and
head straight for the grill. Ask guests to bring
a salad or dessert if they offer to contribute.
There are many menu options, just figure
out your budget and stick to it.
This is only one meal, you don’t
have to feed everyone for a lifetime!

It's summertime, which means it's a time to

Decorate your table with bright summer
colors and votive candles to set the mood after

accomplishment and they need to be recognized.
Whatever you do, your Graduate needs to be the
center of attention and enjoy the party.
